Hi Pamela, I'm working on social media for NeighborWorks America. Out of the network we have 140 NWOs with social media! If you want to see some of their content and pages please go the NeighborWorks America Facebook Page. We get a lot of our content from the NWOs and tag them in the posts and they post to our wall too. You could also look on the NeighborWorks Twitter handle and view our following list. We try to follow all of the network members, so you could find out their handles and tag them if you have some content to share.

I hope this was helpful, but if you want to talk about more SM in the NeighborWorks Network feel free to send me an e-mail, especk@nw.org. Thanks!

Hello there, if anyone's listening.

I'm not seeing too much SM engagement by NWOs so far. I understand we don't have lots of free time for such things.

I started a personal blog, Hands on Home Buyer, for first time home buyers and was hoping to find more NWOs to share content with. Instead, I'm mostly contacted by realtors and lenders.

I'm on twitter @handsonHB and Facebook but rarely see housing counselors there. I've linked my blog posts to my page here on LfC but haven't been active here yet.

I'm also on Triberr, a SM site that allows groups (or tribes) to retweet each other's blog posts. I've been invited to join real estate tribes but I really prefer to hang out in the nonprofit world.

Are there other folks out there interested in engaging more in SM?

Pamela

Wondering if anyone has read The Networked Nonprofit by Beth Kanter and Allison Fine? I think it offers some interesting thoughts on issues of organizational culture, tranparency, workload. Anyone else?

Skype! I use Skype personally to call my mother who lives in France, but do not use it on a business level. I actually use my cellphone to access my Skype account, so I don't have to be at my computer to use it (I don't do the video thing)

Chevene - I think that a good way to get stuck in to Twitter is to sign up for yourself before signing up for a "corporate" presence. That way, you will be less worried about the protocol side of things.

At first, just sit back and watch. See how people construct their posts, the shortcuts they take to fit everthing in to 140 characters. When you feel comfortable tweeting for yourself, you'll feel more confident to tweet on behalf of your organization.

There is a goot twitter primer on mashable.com. And I invite you to follow me at MCCAinc (and/or my personal twitter account, which is "snootyvixen")

I really want to learn to Tweet, but don't want to get into anything foolish. Any suggestions?

I guess at this time, I have to say email is my most used method, but recently I have been availing myself of facebook and it was very useful in planning my trip to Switzerland. I had learned about everything I needed to know, even about the bus system before I ever left the US
