Residential Wind Power
Windtronics is promoting a residential wind turbine.
These look pretty cool and might provide up to 50% of your residential electric consumption.
You get a federal tax benefit and in some states additional funding through grants and other subsidies might allow you to install these relatively inexpensively.

Peer to Peer Lending
I just saw an interesting news piece dealing with a new trend called "Peer to Peer Lending." Individuals put up profiles outlining what they need money for and individual investors put up the money with an interest rate based on a credit rating, much the way banks do traditionally.
