New Building Products of Potential Interest

A couple of new products I've read about lately may be of interest to others.

The first is by Masonry Technology and is a rain screen for interior basement walls. It is called Control Cavitiy and acts as an interior drainage plane for basement walls in much the same way as exterior rain screens do. According to the manufacturer the product is made from 100% recycled material and is easily trimmed with a utility knife. www.mtidry.com

The other producet I noted is from Leviton (www.leviton.com). It is a dimmer switch for CFL bulbs that is able to detect high-end and low-end dimming capability of a CFL bulb and adjusts power output to improve the bulb's performance in the adjusted dimming range. According the the article the switch works with a wide range of dimmable CFLs and costs about $20.
